Yea but the way it’s handled all the time is like … “just diet”
FLs in these kinds of ugly duckling genre can somehow break cultural and social norms and shine but somehow she can’t be fat or tanned cos that’s a total no-no, historical accuracy aside, the message the books I’ve read gave is that “you don’t deserve love and adoration if you’re not skinny or paler than a vampire”
Cos the only time they feature fat characters is to prove to people that it’s something ugly to be changed.
I might have to stop reading these cos my ED might relapse soon

As I said, this is Korea where they STILL (emphasis) paint their face white and have nothing that fits a 12 - 14 size hip in stores. You might say it’s historically accurate but I think this story isn’t based off of it, it looks more fantasy to me (compared to “A Broken Ring” or “A Stepmother Marchen” and others that are in fact based with historics as it’s foundation).
And I don’t think skinny is the same as what we view it today. Today it’s like anorexic are viewed as ideal beauty but like in the roman times etc women were more voluptuous and viewed as ideal beauty… but I digress.

I think they are also implying more in the story. Her sense of anxiety and self-loathing isn’t normal and her appearance looks pretty average if not beautiful. She might be bipolar or have some demon whispering in her mind/ears (idk if it’s going to incorporate magic yet), but either way, I don’t want to just jump to conclusions yet
I’m sorry but this kinda hurts. I have her body type and all she does is call herself fat lazy and incompetent for having a little bit of curves. It’s not even morbid obesity which is an actual cause for concern? When will these manhwas realise that not everyone’s bodies define their personality and work attitude?
