This mangakas story is always filled with sone holes and its up to readers to interpret it. Beryl is not playing with shaia. Beryl agreed to the engagement cos the only thing that benefits him is the house he grew up on will be saved. But toneria’s intention was to embarass shaia by giving him an omega that was once someone else’s. Shaia took it with stride and agreed to the deal and to ensure his omega is still well taken care of enrolled him to the same school so he gets good education and independent thinking later on. He also knows beryl is in on it for the house. But as time goes by they fell in love with each other. Beryl till now thought that his main purpose was to be useful at least as a fiancee. But shaia did all this to also make beryl to like him and desire him he doesnt care about usefulness or not. Which what beryl thought is what all he was supposed to be to shaia. Just to add some more context, Shaia only agreed to have an arranged marriage partner to protect his family. According to the old traditions, the alphas must mate with multiple omegas to produce as many kids as possible. Juda's parents broke that tradition and were mates, then Juda got with Daath and Luard got with Kai, breaking the traditions even more. Shaia now seems to know the trouble breaking tradition brought, so Hugo being with Theo is even worse because Theo is a beta. And in order to make Toneria overlook that, Shaia agreed to the marriage to protect his brother and parents from more trouble. Unexpectedly he's falling in love though.
Ok so why do I feel that Beryl is playing with Shiah? And I thought Shiah was in love with Theo? How did this happen?
