
It is weird but I partly think it's cuz it's a Seinen manga, not a shoujou like many believe so it's meant to have more adult themes/content. Not excusing it but it's just what I think. Part of me thinks the editors also could've influenced them since a lot of manga have to have specific things to get picked up including (sadly) lots of ecchi fan service. That's y the author of Dandadan has so much of it (sadly). Like he also wanted momo to be the only MC but the manga wouldn't be picked up unless she had a male partner/co lead. Legit what happened. So I'm assuming it's a possibility the same thing happened to the author of MDUD. Sad but, it's part of the job.
I love how this manga been stirring away from the ecchi genre that it has built from the beggining and have just been wholesome.
