It's not the same religion though. Buddhist and Shinto priests (in Japan, anyway) aren't like priests in Catholicism. And followers don't view them the same way.
Yea I know that not all religions are the same but idk maybe because I've seen catholic priests all my life it's like a knee jerk that when I see/read about it it's like oh they should just devote themselves to god or something like that.
