I think it's a hurt/comfort kinda thing, sometimes you love to see a character you like or identify with have a real shitty time, and then be healed and loved by the people around them ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Do all authors who write angsty stories love to make their kindest, purest, loveliest, and most innocent female characters suffer and get tortured, while the Male lead doesn’t even suffer at all. Do they hate nice people so much that they always make them suffer
