*sigh a simple take to a character is now being narrowed down as a “fan”, like I said his actions towards anette isn’t to be forgiven and to “communicate” isn’t really easy for a character like Heiner and is EXACTLY what the author is trying to show us by giving us his perspective of the past. It’s what shaped him to be insane and did such an unreasonable revenge towards Anette.
Nothing about that means forgiving or forgetting his wrongdoings or even telling you to accept Heiner in any way as the male lead. It’s obvious Heiner is a weak and coward man, but there are readers who actually read not to find a bias or a character to get attached to but to read a story in general where u can’t easily label anyone as the antagonist or a protagonist. Cause if the problems between them would be easily resolved then this wouldn’t be interesting.
It’s what made this popular in the first place when it was still a light novel, a love that isn’t “easy” but beyond complicated to fix. I already finished the novel awhile back and I’m still coming back to the drawn version now cause it’s still a great read. One of the few that could evoke such deep emotions to readers.

For the record i wasn’t pointing fingers at you specifically, but at those who disliked my comment. Aside from that I think I am entitled to my own opinion about how the story is progressing and how the characters are developing, and I think Heiner’s character — for all the effort the author has spared to help us to better understand him — is still the same as he was in the beginning. Characters are supposed to grow and change with the story. We see it in Annette. We’re 57 chapters in and I don’t see any concerted effort to change in Heiner. I don’t think it’s wrong of me to feel upset over that and wanting Heiner to do something.
I will still be reading the story to watch Annette grow, but I do hope later down the line Heiner will get some further development instead of constantly wallowing in his own self-misery. Because frankly, it’s getting tiring.

oh sorry I just noticed you didn’t reply to me with the fan one. Though I might just warn you *SPOILER* you might not be satisfied with Heiner’s development, assuming you want him to communicate better with Anette. He’s still a weak-minded man in the future and you will be further disappointed in him in the upcoming events. Though there is regret and remorse for what he’d done but it’s more like he already realized what he did was irredeemable, I’d say Anette was more the key in developing wisdom to understand Heiner more, just saying don’t pin any big expectations on him.
Why author trying to make us sympathize with the piece of trash so bad. We get it he went through tough sht but that still gives him no right to treat Annette the way he does
