Like Melinda said, the older brother was the first to suspect him of being able to read minds. Don’t it’s not that he simply has no thoughts, but likely he’s trained himself to not think anything to not give away anything to his father (not that I would know what he’s hiding). That being said, it doesn’t explain why he didn’t know Loid was a spy in their meeting back in chapter whatever. Like others have said, I think that he has a weaker, surgically implanted telepathy rather than the one Anya has, that she was born with.
