People who read novels, does reading novels that has been adapted to manga/manhwa/manhua hard to understand? English is not my first language and I've been postponing reading novels since 2019 but I've been thinking of doing it these days. I'm the type to want spoilers rather than wait for new updates. It gives me more thrill.

I want to know if novels use deep English where sometimes you can't understand it? Do they use a lot of references? I want to be prepared and probably ask for some sites where I can read, or apps too.

if it's light/web novels then you have nothing to worry about, i am someone who is not really good at english and i can guarantee they use simple english.

Hi, light novel reader here, but maybe I'm not the best one to ask about this since I've been reading English books since I was a kid, still, there are some things I still don't understand when it comes to English so what I do is search for its meaning, whether it is a phrase or word.

Ik AI is hated a lot in the comics community but I use Gemini AI or ChatGPT to explain things for me and most of the time, it helps me a lot to digest the words used in the story.

    Best of luck, comrade~

To be clear, I am a non-native English speaker but there were more English books in our country than my native tongue so take it with caution.

it depends. There are webnovels that are machine-translated and literally kills my brain cells when I try to read it lol. But yah, if you are able to find official translations for that novel that would be good, but there are fan translations that are also decently translated :)

Recently, I've been reading Under the oak tree on n o vellive . c o m (just remove the spaces) and so far, I can say that they do have good collection.

Hello! Thanks for replying. I have a question tho. I'm not too familiar with novels so what's the difference between light and web novel? Was light the scratch an author has made for a story and web is the official? And I want to know some recommendations for reading sites or apps. Something that's easy to use, not much ads and doesn't require money.

I've always done that since I started reading a long time ago but it's different with novels. Sometimes one sentence has too many words I can't comprehend or even the whole sentence doesn't make sense for me so it's a hassle to search everytime. But I have free time now and I hope I don't get too impatient when I'm reading. Anyhow, reading novels can actually be good for improving my English vocabulary since I'll probably go to Canada after college.

Can you create an account there? And is there notification that reminds you there's a new update like in mangago? I don't like not having a record of my history.

Good day~ I suggest just reading like the first commenter because there's really not too deep words in translated light novels but if it's not understandable, just use urban dictionary or asking AI, like, really.

I don't get american jokes due to culture but I am trying to read this one book about jokes and I really can't get it so I use it and it's been helpful.

Btw regarding the difference between light novel and web novel, the differences I see is that Japanese calls it light novel (and they actually get published in papers per volume), while Koreans and Chinese call it web novel coz most of the time, you could only access it through websites and online.

light novels are basically japanese novels (like attack on titan, bsd, death note) while web novels are novels that are published online and youll most likely find the adapdated manhwas in that category. i do not know much reading sites (because i read offline) but the most known site is probably novelupdates, novelbin, webnovel(theres an app version of this too) Yes you can create an account but i dont know about the notifications and updates because i dont have it.

A light novel is like a Japanese media mainly targeted towards young adults, it also has a few pictures/illustrations usually in black in white. Light novels are usually short and easier to understand. Web novels is just novels but posted online.

I recommend novelupdates to read but i think it mainly contains Japanese, korean, and chinese novels that are translated. Just make an account then you can access links where you can read it ^^ sometimes tho if its been officially translated it wont show i dont rlly know where you can read western novels for free so I'll leave that to someone who actually knows.
