I got lost.. why does the mother didn’t know Lean was not his child? Is he adopted?

The backstory about this one is not out yet but I think Lean and the REAL son was switched when they were born. It's the only reason I could think of why the Mother didn't know lean's not her son.

And while it's not impossible, I think Alexei's father has something to do with it. For all I know he's behind the switch (if ever) as revenge for Felix. Maybe also the reason why he's so fixated on Lean giving him a grandson with Alexei.
