hey so i really just want to geek out real quick about the art.

HOLY SWEET BABY JESUS CHRIST THIS HAS THE BEST ART EVER

i love the art style so much! it's cartoonish and exaggerated just to the right extent. the anatomy is impeccable but not too true-to-life, which provides the avenues for the characters to be more dynamic and expressive in their facial+bodily actions—it really gives off the feeling of movement and it conveys the emotions of the character so well! the minimal rendering, i.e. cell shading, is very easy on the eyes and it's the perfect match for this type of story, so much so that i think with a different art style it would not have been as impactful as it is now. i'm also loving the color palette and the veeeery subtle grain-like texture they incorporated into the art style!

next, the layout. ISTG THIS IS SSS+ TIER STORYBOARDING. ABSOLUTE CINEMA. each individual panel has a composition that i could praise to high heavens. the clear guiding lines, the perspectives, the dynamism and play with different (proverbial) camera angles, the strategic positioning of characters inside a panel to produce the intended mood for a scene, the smooth-as-butter reading experience because not once will you lose sight of the focal point, the pacing, heck even the layout of the speech and narration bubbles, and of course THE SPLASH PAGES (god, i love the splash pages!!!!!!)—EVERYTHING!!!!! is so well-crafted, so well-planned, so intentional!! i am falling down on my knees!!!! (who is the illustrator and editor for this!!!! I WILL TRADE MY SOUL FOR A MERE DROP OF YOUR ARTISTIC PROWESS.)

HUFF. finally got that off my chest! there might be one or two more things i forgot to mention here but i think i've said enough (too much?). i'll add them in this thread if i remember them!

as an ending note, this may not seem a big deal, but i'd still like to take the time to appreciate the artistic aspect of a comic, which is regrettably often overlooked. and i'm rambling (glazing) about Perfect Buddy specifically because, while so many BL comics can produce very pretty characters and art styles, not all of them can actually STORYTELL through the art, and even fewer than that have the cinematography reminiscent to that of a well-produced film. Perfect Buddy was able to accomplish just that, and it's making me excited to no end that i HAD to pause reading and write out this one heck of a review. (so sorry, btw) ((but also not really I FREAKIN LOVE ART)). that's all BYE
