it’s because the original novel was written around 10 or more years ago, back then there was a fad of a type of “pure fmc” that was really oblivious and dumb, so this being written around the same time had a pure mc that is really dumb and oblivious.

Yeah a lot of straight romance has the same troupe where MC is a ''pure, innocent and can do no wrong'' kinda person but somehow they're all sexy and hot even though they have the mentality of a minor who haven't learned their first curse word yet.
It kinda grosses me out because it seems like a gateway to predators where the victim is a child who can have legal sex.
Maybe this ain't for me.
I think you're might taking this too seriously...it's not like this story wants to make a difference in the world, or show how society works or something...it's merely entertainment with no bigger meaning behind it...
