busuu. its like duolingo but in some of the lessons you respond to a question in any way you're comfy in (romanji or not) and you have the option to have jp speakers review what you wrote and / or said. i recommend it over duo bc of that feature.
i personally don’t use books so i don’t know about them but for apps/webs i recommend wanikani, anki & yomitan (browser extension), erin’s challenge, nihongo e-na, and just reading and watching a lot of raw japanese media eg. unsubbed/jp subbed anime and jp vtubers
duolingo’s only useful to memorize hiragana and katakana, if you’re trying to become fluent then duolingo will not help
Duolingo is actually the worst app you can use for Japanese. Try the minato website and the human Japanese app

Lol, it's like, a thing. You can even Google using pepper pig to learn Japanese. There are forums and articles, plus this episodes are free on YouTube. It's basically just simple and quick. It can technically be any kid's show, kid's shows are good for learning any language. Since the goal of the show is to literally teach a child language and vocabulary, you will be learning like a child of that language.
