I think what a lot of people missed is that one of the themes that has shown in this story is that rich people can’t harm each other. It’s been said several times that rich people and royals can’t harm each other because it’s not proper. Even when Lynn’s sister slapped Martin for abusing/mistreating Lynn, she straight up told him how lucky he was they were friends and was a noble. Even Elizabeth’s teacher couldn’t stop Elizabeth injuring Lynn because she’s not allowed to fully discipline or punish a nobel. The dad even told Elizabeth how very lucky she is that she was his daughter, implying that he would have killed her. Elizabeth being permanently sent away is the more proper punishment. We see this all the time in real life; rich people get away with their crimes whereas non rich people have harsher punishments.
