I think us readers needs to step back a bit and see in poverty of Na Haesoo. She doesn't know Taeha is rich. Remember? Taeha portrayed himself as middle class almost poor wage earner to get close to Haesoo? What their friends suggested isn't actually a stupid idea. If a guy fools around with you and you need him to back off - be that gold digger he despise. This actually works except for Taeha who loves Haesoo for unknown reasons we don't know
