The police pressuring and pushing people to give false confession is sadly pretty common in Japan combine it with the detaining condition it's literally psychological torture.
Yeah that's really shitty and wrong. I just don't know why the police would take the word of the literal drunk who caused the accident.

I couldn't even make it through the first chapter, poor boy is a grown ass adult and lends his car to one of his high school bullys?! The police believing the word of the drunk driver that caused the crash is wild. Also being so much of a push over that he gives a false confession, furthering to fuck up his own life is painful to try to read through in my opinion.
