It's not about the gender, it's the fact that the crown prince and every other male character is very uninteresting or just mildly peppery in flavor. It's unusual bc in your typical shoujo story the ML ends up doing most of the heavy lifting and it features a lot of men vying for FL or just looking hot (it doesn't help that the romance between the prince and Peresa feels a bit meh, imo anyway). Here it is just the girlies. The men are pretty but they don't do much here, do they - and when they do it does little for the overall story.
Like the list of notable men in here dwarfs the women's. All of this makes our young, sexually frustrated and/or confused fujoshis and other degens alike very, very confused.
+Peresa cumming sparkly flower panel docorations whenever she thinks of her oath to the Empress and being her loyal sidekick. It's giving a bit of the gay because it's usually unseen in shoujo stories, these type of intense feelings are usually reserved for the ML alone.
The ingredients fit it's just that the cook was making something different.
That's my scientific study on this thristy yuri greed. Please rate it on a scale from 1-10, I shall expand my findings and research on the mind of filthy lawn-allergic hoes like myself in the future. Pray for me.
Lol as a fujoshi, I've seen toxic fujoshis but I never realized how toxic some tropes are until now because as a non-yuri reader (the genre isn't for me at all) I'm appalled by the push for Yuri in a straight romance. Let's not force romance where there is none. There is such a thing as platonic love. Yall are acting like those toxic guys who say that a man and a woman can never be friends...that's basically you because you're saying a woman can't be close friends with another woman and support her without romance being involved
