sooyoung/mc, by the power of the yaoi gods and also because he’s a cutie patootie, attracts a bunch of weirdo tops. there’s his kinda ex (they never really dated) gyujin, his situationship went south jihwan, and the “bro was never gonna make it past the friend zone” tae hee (this last guy is only like vaguely interested in sooyoung)
sooyoung just wants to go to college, bc his mom is hospitalized and his family is broke as fuck. gyujin and him had a brief thing but gyujin keeps trying to hit (both figuratively and literally) so sooyoung ends it. their last year of high school, gyujin jihwan and sooyoung are in the same class, leading to a lot of tension. jihwan has always been interested in sooyoung since they met, so he tries to get closer to sooyoung. gyujin gets jealous over this and starts to hound sooyoung, which only pushes sooyoung to jihwan more. jihwan and gyujin alpha it out and then jihwan gets gyujin kicked out of school, so he wins be default. sooyoung kind of falls in love with jihwan in the process.
then it’s revealed that jihwan is a psychopath and has extreme issues because both of his parents failed him. he wants more with sooyoung - he doesn’t want sooyoung to go to college, he wants sooyoung to be his and only his. so jihwan tries to isolate sooyoung and spreads rumors about him and stop him from getting into his dream university, snu. long story short, sooyoung finds out and is super pissed, jihwan threatens to kill himself, sooyoung basically goes ‘aight bet’, and then there’s a time skip to now, during their college years.
