Could Have Been Better

To be fair, I loved the progression, but I think it would have been better if she could stop the marriage without the Duke coming in. It just made it seem like she would out her fiance and her sister because she was having an affair herself. Like who is she to say the fiance was cheating when she was suddenly kissing another man at the altar (that's with the presumption they were dating way before then because who would kiss a guy they just met) so the entire thing was anticlimactic.

i get what you’re saying, but given the time period her ending her wedding on her own wouldn’t have looked good on her part. you have to remember that at the end of the day, she is a woman. she’s only in the marriage with the duke to reclaim the rights to her music because she cannot do that all on her because she is simply a woman. like it or not, she needed to rely on the duke in order for things to progress as well as they did for her.

oh definitely they should get married for the rights. What I meant was the breaking off the marriage from the previous fiance part. They could have had an in your face kind of reveal as a different element of the story and it would have worked better. I think the revelation of the previous fiance cheating was already sufficient for that part of the story. Though you're right, the Duke to be taken as a husband is a necessary evil.
