could’ve been better

i liked this story. it’s not the best and was def frustrating but it was decent enough to spend the last two hours bingeing. i just wish it was written better. this story had the potential to be something great if they’d depicted jace’s trauma more accurately and explored it in more depth. here it’s not as fleshed out as it should be, seeing as how prevalent it ended up being to the whole plot.

i would also like to say the seme sucks. sure in the end he’s pretty sweet and ultimately gives up his nobility to be with his commoner lover but he’s also asked for consent like, once, and i cannot fucking believe this guy chooses to sleep with jace after he saw him getting raped AND kidnapped. TWICE. i don’t think there’s a single point where the duke actually spent time comforting jace and not trying to argue his point like he’s in debate class. i also wish they gave jace friends. there were so many ppl that could’ve been used to help jace open up and become a support pillar for him outside of the duke. no matter how much u love ur spouse u should still have a support circle outside of them.

regardless, it’s an ok read and u can get through it p quickly. just wish the writing wasn’t so trash.

    Spoiler Warning!
Accidental Novel ahead. heh heh…. Sorry. I just have a lot of feelings

At first. I was skeptical of ur comment. Then i realized “oh wait yah that’s the exact thing I thought.” I loved this manwha and at the same exact time it left still me with something to be desired.

It seems there were many ways to clean up the story. For one the Duke cud formally apologize for his ignorance around being gay in society. (I wudda LOVED to see more too.) and I thought the exact same thing too. He got his consent like once or twice. And yes sometimes (similar to today) consent is implied without a blatantly saying yes. But MY GOD the dukes attitude, approach, and vibe is what made ALOT of them gray to black for me.

I never thought about the friends idea but that perfect. And the message it’d send wud b sick af.

My BIGGEST thing was the duke’s stubborn attitude and unwillingness to understand what Jace was saying and WHY he was so scared. We saw him come around and be proven wrong but he never apologizes or acknowledges to Jace’s face that he understands, so that he realizes he truly, deeply not alone. I feel like Jace was always “wrong” for things but he had like 3 yrs already being denounced for his sexuality. Of course he has push back. Honestly, it’d be weird if he wasn’t worried for the duke bc of this.

Anyway! That sounds like a lot but it was rlly no big deal to me. I rlly loved this manwha. Is it my favorite BL or regret trope. No. Plus I read it so fast I’ll probably forget it and reread it again but not mind one bit. The storyline was brilliant, the villain was gud, the friend never let me down and genuinely had Jace’s best interest at heart, and lastly we never spent to much time away the couple. I’m happy with their ending together. They’re both truly at peace with their plan.

I have really bad grammar and punctuation problems so sorry if that was hard to read.

Holy shit that’s a novel. If u made it this far you are now one of my elite employees. XOXO
