I mean I would say the same thing if it were in the case where mc started to bombard him with questions or do dubious things to keep the dude all to himself, but I think it's pretty much normal to be overthinking things when u hear rumors about a guy you're interested in and supposedly a guy who reciprocates that interest (let's not forget that ml was the first to make advances towards mc either) Besides, yeah mc is a tad bit paranoid and clingy but he also starts to think that what he's worried about might not matter at all. Really all he needs is some assurance or even communication with the ml, which as we've read so far, not something ml is quite ready for or really open to with mc yet

We’re reading the story from the MCs point of view so of course our opinion on the matter is going to be a little biased. Not even sure how he’s being clingy when all he’s doing is thinking to himself…..? He hasn’t let ML in on much of his thoughts to begin with, so while it seems like he’s being clingy, the most he’s done is send a text or two and then leaves it alone when ML replies to him saying he’s busy. We must be reading two different stories bruh. LOL. I think MC can be anxious over his situationship in private cause it’s realistic and part of the process sometimes. Chill on him
