When the devs took the comment section away for a few years, I was pretty sadden by it and so happy when they brought it back, unfortunately, instead of discussing the story, what we enjoyed and what we disliked in the comment section like we used to, the comment section has turned into nothing more then people bashing stories that they don’t agree with personally. Forgetting that these stories are fictional and that the majority of people reading these stories, don’t read them to fantasize, or romanticize horrendous acts. (and so what if somebody does end up romanticizing it. So what! It has absolutely no effect on anyone. There is a very clear difference between thinking about something, and acting upon something. And its a person’s right to be able to think and fantasize about anything they want inside their own head, it is called free will.)
A story, is meant to relay one character/s life, their reactions to tribulations that come their way, their thoughts, their opinions. We see how their life unfolds and the decisions they choose to make. What I love most about this site is that it allows its members to add tags, create lists and there is a review section where you can rate the story! The comment section should be used to discuss, answer questions, etc not shame someone’s reading preferences, and as I’ve seen it progress over the last couple of years, it has gotten far worse, in all honesty if it continues with the level of toxicity of hate towards people who actually enjoy certain themed stories, it might be in the devs best interest and to those on the site to just take the comment section away again.
I've never thought there was anything wrong with people openly liking/disliking things or talking at length about why they feel that way about them, I think it's actually pretty conducive to starting conversations about what works in a series and what doesn't. But this obsession with moral posturing on MANGAGO of all places has gotta end lol. I feel like this could've been a good discussion, but then it devolved into 14-year-old level stan twt insults. I'm so fucking glad mangago doesn't have gifs because the very thought of scrolling through an endless chain of white women gifs as these people live out their high school bully fantasies is actually daunting.
