I think he actually did give birth to Tako. What we saw assault him in the beginning was an adult tentacle, and so far Tako hasn't been able to get that big even with all the water he's been getting so it would make sense that they're not the same slime. Plus the fact that Tako recognizes HIM as it's Mama.
