And before the time skip: hunters were sacrificial pawns mandated by the government.
Although MC hasn't aged in the dungeon, he really was fighting in the dungeon for 10 years. Government pretty shitty to ignore his time of service in it just because people stopped ageing.
But you need powers to become a hunter....isn't that awakening
Power yes, but a hunter doesn't have a system. The first time they gain power they're called hunter. But once a hunter awaken his system, they're called awakening
