Internalized misogyny

David January 14, 2025 2:53 pm

I’m a guy (and gay) but some of you have some internalized misogyny. Whether it’s about the MC’s character or her body type. It’s frankly disgusting to see how you talk about her in general. She did nothing wrong and her body type is as beautiful as all body types. Quit with ur bullshit.

And what’s with seeing smut as bad or “disgusting” when the main character is a woman but once it’s a man like in these yaoi stories (which I love to read) it’s okay? — some old case of misogyny and sexism that’s all I see. So STFU!!! Leave her alone (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸

    ily you're so real

literally just scrolled down to see what's all the fuss, and I saw the original discussion that started the whole argument as well.
Firstly, it wasn't originally about hating smut, but the whole point was to not sexualize her, which I think no one can argue with that, and someone just pointing out that we should not use expressions that might indicate sexual references, in which this person's original comment, yeah it did sound like that. But do I side with either of them? Neither :'> It's kinda useless to pick a fight with someone we barely know online and talk about language appropriacy; that's why there are some people saying it's just fiction, lighten up or smt like that. So where am I going with this? It's that we should not even fighting over this :'>>> There are million anonymous users on this platform, so when someone just say something a little offensive, just block them and move on ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Secondly, I completely agree about her body type :'> The reason is, this is NOT PORN. It clearly has thorough storyline, and detailed progress, not just about smut scenes. So I really just wish people can distinguish the difference already and stop all this nonsense about the author sexualizing her :'>

Thank you! The people who project on the FL design are always the once who read the most heinous stories, esp controversial Yaoi’s and I can’t help but role my eyes everytime

I think the criticism about her body is very valid her body it is in fact over sexualized and out of proportion the artist is literally a MAN. Women are constantly being objectified in media, especially in anime and manhwa. I think it’s very valid especially a woman does not want to read this or comment about it because it’s going to be constantly brought up you like it or not people state the obvious. I do think some of the comments is giving internalized misogyny. I saw some idiot was out here saying how disgusting it was that we want smut and talking about her boobs even though it is a smut manhwa.

I don’t see how her body is sexualized just because she is designed to have a bigger bust and behind? Women like that exist naturally in real life. Doesn’t mean they are to be sexulized.

By the way I see it — the author might be showcasing how the world sexualizes her body type by their ideas that being this figure is indicative of something. But her herself is not really sexualized as part of her personality and behavior. It’s the people in her like AKA HER HUSBAND AND THE MEN! And the READERS!!

I think the readers are really projecting some of the misogyny about such bodies on the character. This is why they talk about her so disgustingly..

Women are not naturally like that, dude. Unless you get some form of plastic surgery, I don’t know why you guys are trying to normalize this, but that’s not what real women look like. Her thighs, her skinny arms do not match her boobs and butt I can give you so many examples where women who have bigger proportions are drawn realistically. I understand why people would be disgusted by her body if it’s so out of proportion and clearly over sexualized. We see this constantly in anime her body is clearly fan service

Most people here talk about her bust and how it’s big and not pointing to the fucking sky.. sorry for the language but it’s really not about her arms or legs because many female characters on here have ridiculously thin legs and arms but no says anything.

It’s the same shit how men and misogynistic women see women with bigger busts as sexual beings just by existing.

Cause even if we go with what you say— the men in other mangas are also ridiculously proportioned and are always either too muscled or too pretty. No one really criticizes such a thing this badly and mostly they actually like it and start gushing all over it. But when it’s a female character and God forbid she’s curved — she’s gets burned to the ground. Girl please… let’s do better

Can we not compare male fan service to female fan service? It’s fucking annoying. It’s not the same and it never will be. Why? Because for decades, media has sexualized women for the male gaze, reducing them to props for male enjoyment. this perpetuates harmful stereotypes, portraying women as passive, ornamental, or existing solely for others' pleasure. It reinforces a power imbalance, where women are valued primarily for their physical appearance rather than their abilities or agency. In contrast, male fanservice tends to focus on showcasing strength, muscle, being tall or confidence, qualities that society already celebrates in men and men themselves contribute in it. Their sexualization often emphasizes empowerment, making the dynamic feel less exploitative. Female fan service focuses on exaggerated proportions. this type of fanservice can feel exploitative because i diminishes the character's presence to their physical attributes. Overall, I don’t think you should compare men being muscular and having a big penis to woman’s whole entire body being over sexualized.

The authors gender has not been publicly disclosed. I read a comment a comment from a l other site saying they were a male aswell- but there’s no definitive information to disclose this. Until they come out and confirm, it’s best not to spread misinformation.

Woman are objectified no matter what body type or age they are- in media and real life.

This is right I agree with you. Women are indeed always objectified but I feel like the readers are objectifying her as well by only pointing out her body and shaming her body type. Let’s say a women gets this kind of body through surgery that doesn’t mean it’s alright for her to get objectified over it. It’s like they are saying it normal to objectify her because of her shape. I’m tired of her getting attacked when she did nothing wrong but be a woman in story god damnit

No but you said a woman only can have this type of body if she has had surgery. Let’s go with what you say… does that make it okay for her to get objectified? A woman who have had surgeries. Is she supposed to accept it? Cause women have to have this certain “pure” image or she’s a sexual deviant person. I don’t get your point it’s like you’re blaming women for having different shaped bodies. Some women are more curvier than others and they get sexualized by MEN and again misogynists from both sexes. You kinda have some intermixed misogyny regarding women who choose to get enhancements as well.

I definitely agree women are more systematically judged and the focus should be on them. The intention behind my comparison is clear. Female characters get more criticism than male characters. That is my point. Most of the time it’s either out of sexism or misogyny.

Lmao I know she pixel but let’s face some women might feel judged in these comments if they have similar body type or have curvy bodies. I don’t that’s fair for them. I’m just saying all this talk about her body and so little about her actual personality. It’s stupid?

I'm not shaming women who choose to have plastic surgery. My issues lies with you guys constantly saying that women have this body type when in fact, most women do not. This actually causes unrealistic beauty standards that you can achieve this look when you cannot. Stop saying women can have this body type when it’s unachievable, even with plastic surgery most of the time. Do you wanna know why women get plastic surgery? Because of beauty standards.

Agree, I fear a woman w larger feminine features and fits the beauty stereotype being around them. It’s always I’m a girls girls until it doesn’t fit their perspective- I’ve literally seen woman edit her breast to the point, it looks like an adolescent child for their own satisfaction and it blew my light on how serious they are, thinking it’s some revolutionary movement, it made me a little comfortable- definitely a sign of chronically online & intermix misogyny.

Seen those edits too! Making her bust size smaller and higher like women with big busts don’t exit and it’s not normal for breast to be like that with different sizes. It’s so misogynistic they don’t even care about how other women feel seeing this shit but choose to do the same thing they complain about. LIKE GIRL! THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE CLUB
