Cyric didn’t know and had been lied to by the nobles. The research who died to the golem communicated with them through that orb and lied to him that the researchers were commiting treason before he died to the golem. It’s his job to execute on them maybe he could’ve heard them out, but in reality it’s just year of lies that he’s been told and his duty as a knight that he chose to kill them.
That’s pissing me off too, the knight is painted as this “not like the others” gentleman just cause he was a virgin saying uwu sorry to the blond for fucking him in heat, but he’s an ass that didn’t stop for a second to hear the researchers out and consider the possibility they might be telling the truth about the dragon before killing them, like “oh I’m gonna without question believe what I’ve been told by the nobility” as if they’d ever themselves spread the truth of raping and eating the dragon, like he didn’t even consider the possibility before doing something irreversible, it’s just making me hate him idk…
I like the plot but chapter 8 just doesn't sit right with me. The full on execution of the researchers was a bit too much for me. Why were they executed when it should be rightfully be revealed after what the dragon had gone through? Even if it's selling information I'd feel like the top shouldn't intervene or atleast get the full picture before tryna kill them...and you know let their consequences naturally take its course, especially since the aristocrats already knew yet they still tried to hide their dark secrets from the public to maintain their position. But idk maybe it's just me. But other than that I like the smut.
