the ears are intentional!! It's a condition caused by trauma to the ears that is common for martial artists. It's usually drained pretty quick after it starts though, but because of the way he ignores his health it makes sense that he always has it.

Yes! I noticed the cauliflower ear, I was wondering if it would get mentioned or be some kind of way to draw Dan back in. Dan seems pretty empathetic so I can see it being used to lure him.
