It’s been long since I’ve read their story but ig I don’t remember them calling him that. But is it not a gay relationship? Does this only happen in omega verse?

Not in every omegaverse, in some they are both called "dads". In this one specifically they are called "mom" and "dad".

I don't think it's an issue. It's just a label. Nonbinary parents aren't called parents by their kid or by their names, I mean, some might, but most are still called mom/dad. It's easier and comforting. Just a title lol.

In this omega vers they call the ppl who give birth mom and the other dad. You can see this in the third side story where chowons parents are a woman and man but the woman is called dad and man is his mom.

Oh I see. As a gay man, it can feel a bit weird when ppl label a bottom in a gay relationship with a female term. Ig that’s why I was weirded out at first but that makes sense.

It's alright! It's different and strange at first but it is what it is, haha! This is just how things are in this story and mamy other omegaverses. I don't know any IRL queer couples that are gay or lesbian with kids that call one of the moms/dads their opposite title...but there might be! Who knows!
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ so it'd understandable that you're a bit confused. Although, at the end of the day, this is a fictional story and they are all titles/lables. Some kids call their parents by their names while some parents never call their kids by their names, instead, they use nicknames. Everyone is different!

Gay relationship or not, the person byul calls mom went through pregnancy and gave birth to him which makes him by definition his biological mother.

THIS!! Also it's omegaverse which means that they live in a world where it's always been normal for men to be able to give birth and for women to be able to impregnate someone so it only makes sense that in their world "mom"and "dad" aren't gendered terms but instead just purely refer to their role in reproduction/parenthood.

Expecting omegaverse characters to view "mom" and "dad" as gendered words is like expecting people living in medieval times to know what the internet is.

That’s a good point, but my discomfort comes from how those terms are seen in real life. Words like ‘mom’ and ‘dad’ are tied to gender roles, and using them in gay relationships..especially based on who’s seen as ‘dominant’ or ‘submissive’ or who gives birth(?) can reinforce stereotypes. Even if it makes sense in their world, it still feels off from a real world perspective. But I know it’s not a big issue bc he’s a cis man that literally gave birth lol, I guess terms don’t matter here.

In all honesty; if it makes you uncomfortable then I'd suggest to stay away from mpreg stories, especially omegaverse ones and instead get happy gay family time from stories with adopted children (or where the gay couple gets their child through artificial fertilization which sadly is extremely rare in fiction).

I know trans men who proudly call themselves their child's mother bc they were the ones who went through the pregnancy and gave birth, I also met trans men who want to be called "dad" instead of "mom" bc dysphoria. Even in irl situations where a lot of people view "mother" and "father" as heavily gendered and where pregnant men are more of a new phenomena; it all boils down to the individuals preference and emotions whether he'd be called "mom" or "dad".

In a fictional world where it's always been perfectly normal for cis men to go through pregnancy and give birth the dysphoria factor around this would also be so significantly reduced that it would simply make no sense for "mother" or "mom" to be gendered terms.

In omegaverse particularly you also have the additional situation where male omegas and female alphas are, from a biological POV, actually a specific type of intersex and are socially viewed more as something in between male and female. Omegas and alphas are completely fictional genders with bodies that work completely different from ours so showing irl gender norms/binary on them makes no sense and is a little unfair especially since there's a lot of omegaverse out there who use the omegaverse mechanics sometimes get used to portray or tackle irl topics in a more abstract way.

The first omegaverse story I've read used the omegaverse lore to criticise sexism and gender roles in a way that avoids the audience being biased.

One of the omegaverse stories I'm currently reading uses the omegaverse mechanics to tackle on topics such as domestic abuse and trauma.

These completely fictional genders have their place in fiction but it only works as long as we allow them to be purely fictional genders. Think about how in medieval times stories used animals instead of people to be able to criticise the royalty/gov/society in s way that they'd actually reach people. Omegaverse can be used in a similar way. (And to all those pointing at the purely fetish omegaverse content; I present to y'all furry porn...idk how long furry porn has been existing for but my point is that the same story telling tool being used for deep valuable fiction and for vile fetish content isn't anything new lol)

If it is of any help for you I'd suggest viewing male omegas and female alphas as non-binary people when reading omegaverse bc non-binary is the closest irl equivalent they have. Male omegas don't have a more feminine gender role bc "submissive gay" they have a more feminine role because their gender is something between male and female that doesn't fit into our irl gender binary.
