Dan couldn't say no without it indirectly killing his grandmother. J. abused his financially dependent situation in order to rape him and also non-consensually made him perform acts in front of a third party (who, as you have seen in the last few updates, was also disgusted by his behavior). If the characters within the series can recognize that J. is an abuser, that should be a sign to you.
