Everyone was so hyped for this story when it first came out but........
now it seems like this doesn't have the same type of hype as it use to have

Unlike Painter of the night, jinx, pearl boy, waterside, all those yaoi kept their hype from start to finish. I thought Wet sand was going to be a top yaoi because it so so hyped up at the beginning but now it seems like people don't care as much compared to the other yaoi's.

I was hoping it would keep me hooked like Shutline, Under the Greenlight or Payback since the themes are similar, but I felt like I was waiting for something that wasn’t happening quick enough. The intensity from the gang plotline was gone and when it shows up it’s in flashbacks or for a couple of panels every couple of chapters.

I really like TJ and I feel like she dropped the ball on his character
He was really hyped up/popular when he was first introduced
However now not so much in comparison to seme's like Dooshik,Jake, Caesar eta
They are still like the top seme's for years now

Maybe because TJ is not the main character but at the time he had the same hype as those seme's when this story first came out.

Like you said the flashbacks make the story fragmented and it becomes boring because no one really cares about the flashbacks we just want the main story to coninue so it's hard to keep engagement to a story like that.

I really like TJ but as the story went on it became less about him so I lost interest. I feel like that happen with a lot of people and also the 3 main characters are not really likable. Joe is likable but boring. Also the side couple has more chemistry than the main couple. Tj and Ian have more chemistry but less screen time so many people lost interest.

Wet Sand is a top tier BL, in the most humble opinion that I can fucking give. It’s like buying good weed; the high feels amazing. I think the issue is that people can’t handle the mundanity bc they’re coked up to the hilt with the idea of gay sex. When there’s sex, it’s good, when there’s not, it’s still so much better than an average BL. I’ll literally read this over any BL with smut every other day of the week because Wet Sand makes the characters worth reading it.

I don’t know about other people, but the amount of sex we’re getting has nothing to do with my boredom with the story. That’s not even what got me hooked in the first place. It really was the complexity of the characters and the underlying gang plot happening. I was also most entertained by TJ, regardless of his involvement with Ian. To me the story has stagnated as we’ve been overflown with different flashbacks that in the end, mean the same thing. I know that because people are behaving as though TJ’s inner thoughts is some new revelation, as if we haven’t known that these were his thoughts since halfway through season 1 when Ian and he had their big fights. Every few chapters, people act like this is something new and current, as if the characters are still in their 20s. As if they’re not 34 year olds coming to term with the place they have in each other’s lives. The redundancy has people whining about the same thing over and over again. I was also curious on how the author would get me to dive into Ian and Jo as a pairing. Regardless of whether you’re someone who finds their relationship to be “toxic” or not, all the end of season 1 + the flashbacks have done is make me realize how deep TJ and Ian’s bond is. Ian and Jo only have a chance because TJ took himself out of the picture. For that reason alone, I’m not overly impressed with their love story. I don’t see the difference between that and Ian choosing Jo because TJ died or went to jail. Meanwhile, the most we’ve had about the gang plotline was in flashbacks. Im sincerely tired to see those. I hope we had the last of it this season.

Ofc cause the story got too complicated. The gang happenings, the side characters, the side happenings and histories of characters. And also because the story is not direct enough with how Jo is good solution for Ian, and TJ is a bad solution. This manga got polished in a wrong way.
