I know it's a personal opinion, but I personally loved the story. I recognize that it is not for everyone, as it goes from ok to wtf constantly and some of the topics covered are brutal. But I've noticed that the narrative is carefully constructed, even the brutal parts and involve a lot of action and brain games. Maybe when the English translation arrives at chapter 40, you'll better understand what you saw in the raws and change your opinion.

The assault isn't shown, Brett gets a rape kit done where he gives details of the attackers and then he goes on his date with Hayden. There are other comments here from when the raws first dropped that explain it in more detail.
