If 30 is old then what is 50? Archaic? What about 80? Extinct? Petrified?

Yeah but for a 22 year-old? Doesn’t matter if they’re adults the maturity difference and life experience is huge. When going into a relationship a 10 year age gap is definitely something to consider.

Honestly there is that gap between life experience and maturity but at the end of the day, love doesn’t care about those differences. With my dad pursuing my mom when he was 21 and my mom was 30, now they’ve been married for nearly twenty years and still going strong with two kids. What matters is that they were both adults who found love in each other rather than being hung up on the differences between them.

I don’t think we should normalize such big age gaps because they might be adults but maturity level and life experience is very much a thing. Older adults can still groom young adults. I mean your brain isn’t fully developed until you are 25. If you really think about it, what does a 30-year-old have anything in common with the 21 year-old? Also, in today’s society, thankfully we have improved this would not be acceptable. Even though it is a fiction, I think her character worrying about the age gap is quite normal and realistic, even though she doesn’t seem to care about having sexual thoughts of him but whatever.

brain isnt fully matured untul 25 is a myth, brain fully developed is until our 40s as showed in a scan for the prefrontal cortex. Then again, people's maturity isnt based on age but their own characters. If a young person is mature, they will seek someone who is in the same wavelength with them, which normally fall on older people. As long as both are adults, all is well imo.

Rather than “normalising” it, it’s more about accepting that relationships shouldn’t be bound based on societal norms and have people deny their own happiness because of them. I’m not saying older adults can’t groom younger ones, I’m saying people mature at different rates and if the connection between them is real when all things are considered, why should they deny themselves happiness? Developing doesn’t mean non-functioning, people that are younger and older than 25 are having their brains constantly developing and they’re completely able to make decisions that affect rest of their lives if they want to, just like my dad did. They could have a few things in common, for example my parents had the same religion, lifestyles, political ideals, goals in life, etc. I also think it’s normal for her to worry about the age gap, as did my mom when my dad was pursuing her but at the end of the day she realised why deny the happiness they both want if they can find it together despite their differences, that’s the point im trying to make.

I def agree on some of those points, but this story is literally the opposite of grooming. We already know hes messed up in the head, I’ve just accepted that this story is gonna be a little weird. And is she not allowed to have thoughts? Hes the one that’s been chasing after her. I’d say she deserves some attention.
Yeah is weird but it’s fiction and isn’t harming anyone at the end of the day.
You’re totally free to disagree, it’s just my opinion.

I completely understand her side, because i have a tendency to think that people, even if they are 2 years younger than me, are a terrible idea for a relationship and i have traumas about that. In the worst case scenario, he could be a minor - 17/18 years old which could be much more worrying.

Exactly like I don’t think I could date someone who is more than two years younger than me. It just grosses me out because truly what do I have in common with someone who is much younger than me.

Yes! I even tried dating someone who was just a year younger, but it was enough to leave me traumatized for a long time. ☠

Of course, cases are cases, my mother's boyfriend is 24 almost 25 and she is 33, he is one of the nicest guys i have ever met and he didn't leave my mother until she accepted him as her boyfriend - he met her when he was 22/23 and fought for almost two or three years until he convinced my mother.
