Realistically, please remember that we're not solitary creatures from our nature and we DO need other people to varying degrees for our wellbeing, through romantic relationships (in any of their forms that work for us), friendships, family, work, community.. There's healthy dependency and then there are pathological behaviours that greatly negatively affect us.
Gren, unfortunately, seems to be struggling a lot without someone familiar on his side and instead of forging new relationships to fill those healthy needs, he's heading down a dangerous path again. I just feel sorry for him.
And speaking of him… his therapist gave him TERRIBLE counseling by saying his brother was the source of his strength. No. You should be the source of your strength to help fight substance abuse when nobody is around. Otherwise you’re dependent on someone instead of holding yourself accountable…
