Nergal wants to fix/nourish the world they're on. He says he love Leon but he just needs him to achieve his own selfish desire. Nergal killed another worlds god because she talked trash about his world being a heap of garbage. Nergal is just a selfish, obsessive, compulsive, manipulative douche. In one of the chapters in season 2 he mentions how he won't let anyone berate or belittle his world. That's why he's keeping Leon by his side. [Leon wants to destroy the world.]
