tho now im reading it and honestly i htink mc is more similar to cirrus that skylar??? bc hes like kinda selfish and yk like SPOILER: when he helped taesan when he was bullied by jinwoo, he didnt help him cuz he cared abotu taesan but bc he didnt want jinwoo to pay THAT much attention to taesan especially after noticing that jinwoo might actually like taesan so basically for selfish reasons but he appears like a good guy by stepping up which is smth CIRRUS WOULD DEFINITELLY DO like that just SCREAMSSSS cirrus, i mean i cant even count how many times cirrus was being kinda manipulating like f. e. the amusement chapter where he intentionally called chan il and riin to go there so skylar would give up on chan il which is basically kinda the same so.
ohh now that u mentioned it i cant unsee the resemblance anymore. i also think the main couples rs would be soooo similar to cirrus x skylar dynamic. what i mean is the red flag x red flag trope (which is my fav btw) i read some spoilers and i feel like mc could be my new fav mc if the writing is done as right as litc or cm.
since youve mentioned cirrus. id like to rant how hes like soohyun as well. the obsession the thought process the only difference is how while soohyun would do ANYTHING to get what he wants this mc is still prioritizing his image? at school sth i just know soohyun doesnt care bcos he sees and cares abt nth but himself and his goals (which has everything to do with eunsung) but ofc who knows he might be like that when he actually starts liking the ml
I know your hyped up for this and I agree with you 100% but knowing the author I'd be shocked if they manage to capture a quarter of the deep nuances in litc or make characters that are half as consistent and well written as checkmate, so don't expect too much buddy i feel like this will start out great and fizzle out into nonsensical writing or that's just the pessimist in me
Wait I didn't mean the actual author btw, i meant the manhwa adaptation cuz this was originally a novel, and I've yet to see a manhwa adaptation that didn't just completely butcher the novel. Always read the novel for the better experience, MC is wayyy more obsessive in it
