Me too honestly it hurt so bad when I realized that Penelope just wanted to find another way to escape because she thought it would be the easiest way out now that the heroine and actual plot would start to begin. Honestly I’m still a bit lost as to why she wanted to kill herself is it because of the heroine coming back and her becoming the “villainess”?
Yeah, I think that's the case. She failed at reaching 100% affection and saw how others slowly started to favor the heroine. She must've thought that indicated the "correct" plot would begin now and, knowing she couldn't change anything after that, she finally gave up. She lost all hope and willingness to deal with the situation (honestly mood)
I cried when Penelope finally shed some tears with her father present. Heartbreaking
