It's not like she lived her whole life as a princess. She should have already mature enough when his dad abandoned him and the uncle was useless. Empathy and compassion are the most useless thing you point against someone who wants to murder you.
And imagine how he's feeling when the one who is your EVERYTHING flinches and acts scared of you after you commit murder to save her.
