This much is expected since it is novel adaptation. It sure was annoying to me but then it clicked me that the story is called "reunion" and since they reunited back after years, they are the same people years ago so what they say or habits really triggers memories so they go back flashbacks. Just like how irl we experience, maybe author wanted that.

Because that is the whole story? Literally the whole story is about their past. All the events that led to him losing his memories, why the bot cant/won't tell him the truth, why the family won't tell him the truth...
Dude the whole story is quite literally the flashbacks lol idk what to tell you. Their present day stuff will happen eventually but I personally LOVE the flashbacks and I wanna know EVERYTHING that happened.

completely agree like the past is what makes it feel so nostalgic, tender and sad - it’s also just really cool writing in general because the last scenes work so fluidly with the present and explain all their present actions, thoughts and emotions. it’s also so bittersweet to see how much they’ve grew and changed in all those years and how they still yearn for eachother
Why does the story keep dwelling on past events? How about going back to the present for once? This is goddamn annoying to read. All of these can be a simple conversation between them, but author just had to stretch out their memories.
