Anyone feel bad for the guys who were drugged?

I do kinda feel bad and they deeply regret everything even they're under the influence of love potion but tolerating pina when they have their own consciousness is a big no no no to me, the prince knew pina was wrong in all places but she purposely use the "national treasure" shitlag card which makes them even more helpless also they didn't believed remi/emi or listen to her side which emi only spiraling her reincarnated self to coma/darkness so boohoo to the guys

Nope no guilt hating on them. I read a spoiler where they wouldn’t have been affected by the love charm/potion/magic if they truly loved and believed in Remi. Somewhere in their hearts, they felt inferior and the (I’m just gonna say magic) magic affected that part and allowed Pina to brainwash them.

Long rant about the "friends" below containing spoilers from the novel. TL;DR is that no, I don't feel bad and I agree with the reply above mine. The potion never made them forget of Emi's kindness nor her personality. They just choose to not side with her, even though they have some autonomy and are aware of what they were doing (the brother is the worse in this regard, see more below as to why). If they didn't have even an inkling of bad thoughts towards Emi (before getting a whiff of that potion), none of these would've happened.

I'm not sure what the deal was with the knight friend who was engaged with Sofia. Maybe he was jealous of Emi for being so perfect too, idk. But all the other "friends" are scum.

First, we have the prince/ex-fiance who has a massive inferiority complex. He thought that isolating Emi and seeing her look of hurt made her seem more human. He thrived at seeing her fiance who was perfect in every way starting to break down, this made him feel better about himself as he saw it as an opportunity to finally be on equal footing with Emi. That's also why he came up with that 'I'll break up our engagement' plan where he wanted to hear her admit to her "crimes" and apologize, which after he was planning to take her back again and keep Pina as a concubine (this mf istg).

Next, we have the brother (cousin who Emi helped by saving his dad, but the dad still died of illness later so he was adopted into Emi's house as her brother). This guy loved Emi (not in a sibling way which btw eww they're still cousins), but he couldn't do anything because she's already engaged to the prince. So, when he saw that Emi was getting isolated like that, dude was rejoicing on the inside especially when the prince told her they'd break up the engagement. He saw that as an opportunity, that if Emi breaks up with the prince and she becomes isolated, then he can swoop in and make it so that he's the only person she can rely on. Heck, this guy wasn't even affected by the potion! Because unlike the others, he didn't despise or felt inferior to Emi. HE STOOD BY OF HIS OWN ACCORD AND WATCHED HER BREAK DOWN BECAUSE HE WANTS HER FOR HIMSELF. He's so trash I swear.

Lastly, the musician dude. For him I don't have much information about, but he loved Emi as well. Kind of a mixed situation with the prince and the brother wherein he had inferiority complex and wanted Emi to not be engaged with the prince so he can have a chance. Overall he's also scum for being aware that she'd never do all that but turning a blind eye for his own selfish desires, so screw him too.

I know we don't know the reasoning behind why the potion worked in the Manga right now, but I assume Remi knows that and that's why she's extremely harsh with her idea for revenge. Had they truly simply been brainwashed then Remi would have gone about this in a way to save the guys instead of also wanting to punish them (cause I know she tends to try and do stuff Emi would have and Emi would have def forgiven the guys if it truly wasn't their own doing and stuff)

Yeahhh, tbh at first I thought so too that maybe we could cut the guys some slack... until I went down the rabbit hole of spoilers and ended up reading MTL'd parts of the novel myself.

If I remember correctly, Remi wasn't exactly sure at first to what extent the potions affect people in this world. Since all she had was the knowledge of the game from Emi's memories, and in the game you just buy a boost and it doesn't really get explained how it works. However, Angel (and Thorne too, I suppose) did mention that the potion only makes people fall in love/feel intense attraction to the wearer. It doesn't do anything else beyond that, so Remi knew that they were all just trash for not believing in Emi.

On another note though, I feel like even Emi wouldn't have forgiven the guys since she literally sent herself to a sort of coma inside of Remilia's body after being betrayed. That's another reason why Remi is so driven in her revenge, she probably felt just how hurt Emi was and she worked so hard too to make sure she'll live as a happy Remilia ╥﹏╥

I checked the novel MTL's again just to make sure I didn't spew BS and I've come back to add a few things from my original reply.

First, nothing changes for the prince, he's still scum and what I wrote pretty much sums up his 'regret' chapter. The same goes for the brother, he even acknowledges that he's the only one who could've betrayed the prince (along with the star maiden's whole entourage) by taking Emi's side, but his desire to take advantage of the situation was more powerful I suppose

Next, the knight friend did have a crush on Emi but again he couldn't make a move because she's already engaged with the prince when they met. Initially, he even bonded with his fiancé through having conversations about Emi since they both admired her. He realized that something was wrong when Pina was making him feel this weird way about her (that he's starting to think she isn't so bad) when he used to be annoyed from her advances. But then she noticed that Emi would give him a troubled/sad look everytime Pina flirts with him and he liked seeing her like that (didn't remember this part, f this guy too) so he just brushed off being suspicious of Pina so she can keep seeing Emi look at him like that.

Lastly, I did remember the musician guy right, he was jealous of Emi (since he thought she was a prodigee in music when he heard her humming a tune from her world). But ultimately, he wanted her to rely solely in him while she was being isolated since he noticed that the prince really was acting super strange with Pina. Tbh, at least he realized that he didn't have the right to be sad about loosing Emi tho because it was his own doing anyway (his dad is even a court mage, dude could've found out about the potion if only he just used his brain properly).
