there’s a huge difference between them though. the two russian thots were raised or pushed to be murderous psychopaths who needed to use violence to survive. they grew up in unconventional militant/mafia families
meanwhile, jae is literally just a famous well renowned boxer. we don’t know much about his background but from what we’ve seen, it’s not on the same level as ilay or caesar. but jae gets called out more because of comments like these that lighten his actions. he is an asshole with twisted morals and that’s ok to call out, because at the end of the day he still raped/silenced/harassed/bullied dan despite taking care of his grandma and debts. i agree with some of your opinion + you’re not excusing jae! but it’s logical to hate on someone who was well integrated into society vs mls who’ve gone through hell to survive

Okay don't come at me ffs I am aware we can't exactly compare them because they have different backstories, Caesar was literally raised in hell that forced him to become cold and harsh but Ilay? Please, you have to read the novel to know that Ilay simply does not have morals, or whatever morals he has are extremely skewed up. Taeui is the only one he cares about, but that is in no way healthy irl. Please keep in mind that I'm not straight up bashing them, I love Roses and Champagne and Passion, but you can like someone and still be critical of their actions. In Jaekyung's case, he needs to get his shit straight, we often see that he feels the severe need to succeed, it is like he's constantly chasing something and no win is enough to make him happy. On top of it, he does not make meaningful human connections with anyone, we never seen him open up to anyone and his first response when things don't go his way tends to be irritation and anger. It's normal to feel irritation, but he really hurt Dan with his words and actions. Dan has had a terrible life until now, so comparing him to Taeui just feels disrespectful to both. Dan has so much trauma to uncover and Jaekyung's non communication and rough actions don't exactly help the situation. That being said, I look forward to actual character development. I love how Caesan and Lee Won have adjusted to each other and how Taeui is learning more about Ilay, and I want to see how Jae and Dan can move past all the trauma and see where their relationship goes.
Tbvh Jaekyung obviously has anger issues and communication issues, but he still has morals and is not an asshole. If you compare him to someone like Ilay, who has no morals, or Ceasar, who is the definition of toxic ML, he is not that bad. Not that this excuses his treatment of Dan, it just means that if he corrects his behaviour, it will be easier to forgive him. But only Kim Dan has the right to decide if he deserves forgiveness.
