opinion regarding possession (as a trope)

Tbh often times one of my least favourite parts about the possession trope is when the possessor doesn't have any memories from the OG/knows little, and I have to watch them fumble and sometimes make really embarrassing moves (I have a way too strong tendency for feeling secondhand embarrassment with the media I consume). Many times the MC may not have any viable excuses, and it is what it is, but way too many times I see them having one and not use it. Σ( ̄□ ̄||)

This applies here too. I feel like our current MC/Yana could easily act that her memory was affected due to the poison she consumed - considering how threatening the situation seemed, it doesn't seem impossible to me that some brain damage would've happened ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ i understand some may potentially see this as an easy way out, but I personally just see it as the most logical thing to do in the situation. You don't have to pretend you know things you don't, or people don't necessarily look at you weird when you say something odd. Like she can easily ask about Yana's older brother without being suspicious. Ofc she can still use that excuse, but we'll see where things go.

Then again, I'm someone with alright social snills for an AuDH person, but I suck at reading specific cues in people and can't really fake things. I couldn't do what these kinds of MCs do. I'd be as honest as I can with the excuse of memory loss, so then, even if my personality is different, it'd be more understandable.

This is just my opinion though and there's no reason to take it seriously. This series isn't being annoying/that bad about this trope, it just came to my mind so I wished to talk aboyt it. ( ̄∇ ̄")
