As far as we know none of those years ever included dating?? How are you suppose to pick up on those social cues if you’ve never had experience with them, older or not? Being depressed and the main thing on his mind being literally his future death could also be a factor in him not noticing a crush but yea, hard to pick up on things you have no experience with
My dude is like 50, total shade the 19 year old is being extremely obvious at this point and he’s 50, he should be able to tell the baby is flirting with him.
If the author wanted to stretch this part focus on the fact that precisely he is 50 and cannot see himself with a old, for a number of reasons but making him not notice at this point is taking me out.
