exactly!! and the times where he saw phil differently, it was an act/her mask to survive. she’s kind, however since her actions towards him weren’t genuine, i can’t help but see them as forced ( ̄へ ̄).
a good example of a ml that was more of a background character, but slowly became someone special to mc was anakin in “kill the villainess”
tbh i would enjoy the story way more if it focused only on her family, and her figuring out who she is and what she wants. i think if the story wanted to push for their relationship, a grander scene was needed to create a mutual spark between them while they were growing up
imo nasar is really bland, even though his backstory was complex. his lack of scenes and importance in phil’s life this entire time don’t help. from his confessions to his crying, i didn’t feel anything for him… when usually these things cause you to root for the ml . i would’ve loved to see nasar accidentally see a side of phil no one else has, and treasure it while slowly making her open up. but instead phil is still extremely closed off, so nasar’s chasing doesn’t feel satisfying + shes never felt close to him
what makes isekai ml’s compelling is their ability to make an mc grounded, and i just don’t get that from him unfortunately
