Same, I binged this today and I thought I got the wrong chapter or something. They kinda throw the narrative off a bit

the author is most likely pressured to do them, so to not harm the original pace of the story (like rushing the way they develop feelings) they js put those instead, I do agree that it was a huge jumpscare tho
