yes, they did, my heart aches for him… the reason he kissed the detective is to get dna on him and incriminate him too, in case he reports the situation.
it’s insane how he endures all that, because it’s a very traumatic experience and yet he only thinks about how to play his cards right while disregarding his well being… yeah i’m glad it was not shown, it is way too triggering for people

to add more context: brett told the detective in chapter 35 that people were wandering around his house, but the detective did not believe him. now in this chapter brett told him that they put a tracker on his car and they ambushed him. brett does not want to report the situation because he does not want the media all over him again and kisses the detective to get dna on him, as to incriminate him in case he goes against brett’s wishes…..
Will Brett tell Hayden about this? I would rather he didn't know...he's going to go crazy...
By the way, I loved Daphne's attitude. I'm going to really enjoy seeing an alpha woman x beta man relationship.

I thought it was very good of the author not to show the traumatizing scene of Brett's rape. The event itself is shocking enough. I also thought it was brilliant the part where Brett comments to the police officer that he tried to warn him but was not taken seriously... drawing a parallel with real life, how many men are threatened and/or abused and discredited even by professionals??

np! if it’s true nathan’s dad sent them, i think he’s aware they targeted him as to intimidate him and discourage him from testifying as a witness in favor of alexander, so he doesn’t want the attention on him because he still wants to go ahead and take part in the trial. that and the author probably wants to address the stigma behind men reporting sexual assaults.

too much going on…..
first, daphne confronting/seducing henry was kinda nice lol it’s about time henry needs to stop being a wimp…
second, the way martin can’t go a day without having anything to do with scott, sighs
third, the police found brett’s car abandoned in the middle of the road and the detective is on his way to find brett…
fourth, hayden got a small acting role! he’s definitely going back into acting yay and he also told his parents during dinner that he will leave early than expected because he’s got a date (his blushing face pls)
fifth, ew, the thugs actually peed on brett, talk about humiliation…. also, the detective finds him afterwards in the middle of nowhere and brett tells him is clear they don’t trust each other and that anyone would do anything in their power to protect what they want, that the detective would probably understand that considering he killed the guy who stabbed and almost killed the red haired dude, who is his friend and roommate, while on duty. it seems brett is telling the detective he expects him to be on his side, since he probably knows what brett is doing. also the kiss and “you decide what to do, whether to submit the dna report or not but you will have to explain how you got it in the first place” AKSJSJSJS BRETT WHAT ARE YOU DOING
