I think the thing is that he *was* stealing her power (though not entirely on purpose) in that seed/shell dynamic he described, but especially with him about to die already, he wants to give back what's hers?
Though i could see him switching up on us, so that we have a narrative reason to like the ML again (bc I do not like that mf rn lolol)
