i'll explain why he is in this state - because it's realistic. he's moved to the poor countryside his neighbors and surroundings are elders there's no one his age no one he knows or is friends with. he lives alone, everyday he is working for himself to survive and is also working to take care of his sick grandma. his grandma who is his last living family member, one he was extremely close with and attached to, is now dying. he was rejected strongly by the person he liked and was finding his own weird sense of happiness with. he has been bullied, he has been abused, he has been sexually assaulted, his life has been traumatic, he is lonely, and now he is depressed. it is not an unusual thought to think he would resort to drinking and try to end his life after suffering so much in the past and most importantly, in the present.
Doc Dan has been suffering since the start why does he have to ? He’s in a new town his grandma is in the hospital why does he need to drink , overwork himself and now this Suicide attempt the Author is making it way too easy for Jeakyung .
