Exactly my same thought process, there wasn't any struggle with social interaction, communication, or anything that activates the radar, besides her heavy interest in magical engineering, but i just see it as someone passionate and ambitious in her field

Also wouldn't call her awkward, a better word would be blunt

Right? When people are passionate and interested in a topic, are they automatically autistic? Isn't that just being human? Idk so I'm really curious too how is she on spectrum

And yeah, I never see her as an awkward person. More like she don't give a fuck about other people's feeling so she says whatever she wants lol

you're taking this a bit personally. also, being passionate about something is indeed human. but the thing about autism, adhd, and other neurodevelopmental disorders is that they take human traits to an absurd degree. they are often told they're "too much". but if it doesnt affect your quality of life then it shouldnt bother you too much to get diagnosed. it clearly affects her life though, with all the coffee and no food she consumes she would have died early even without prince heaton plotting against them. not eating, excessively drinking coffee, i emphasize once more NOT eating, and not moving until you finish your work is not what adults do when they work. come on.

having a special interest is also part of the diagnostic criteria, hers being magical engineering. it's been her special interest since childhood too, which strengthens the point. she also has social impairments, not that she cares about that, but it's not a matter of caring about it or not because it's pretty clear in the world that if you want to survive you don't act like an ass, so if her goal was to survive she should have changed but she cant bcos it's a part of her (see: autism as an identity). however, while the more disabling parts of autism don't seem to be present (such as autistic meltdowns caused by sensory overload), her social impairment is still there. that's all

I admit, I'm perceiving your comment with malice. you probably didn't mean anything with your questions. I'm sorry. hope my comment makes sense. i guess i just want to say there's nothing wrong with having autistic characters. it destigmatizes the word "autistic" when we talk about it as well. if you've ever met low needs autistic individuals, some of them behave like our pink haired main character (i forgot her name)

Idk how to explain it she just didn't "feel" like one or maybe bc she's very high functioning so i didn't feel it?

however if u know character alhaitham from genshin who seems also high functioning, but he's so much autism coded, he talked in even tone all the time and have strict life routine. i never imagined kiana in even tone. there are many moments where she was angry and frustrated but it's not autistic kind. she also doesn't have strict routine and other common traits seen in autistic person.

she just feel so much human despite her bluntness. unlike autistic characters i know which usually have a robotic side about them.

I think maybe Kiana is AuDHD at most. she doesn't seem messy that much bc she had maid(s) and strict noble etiquette to make her presentable all the time (except when she's working).

but if you think autistic is a spectrum that everyone always have (never 0) then yeah she probably have just a bit higher scale on that.

if you want to include external factor (such as author's intention) I see no intention to make her autistic. I only see intention to make her a typical genius character in book (doesn't mean it's bad). but this genius character also probably made of autistic genius. that's why these similarities. so i think it's ok to have fun and have your own headcanon. that's still not a bad take btw

There are fanon autistic characters that I saw and agree such as the Laois from Dungeon Meshi, Al Haitham from Genshin and Maomao from Apothecary Diaries.

The FL here just doesn't feel one to me. Her being a coffee addict and hyper focused whenever she works stems for her trauma. She wanted to be recognized by the people in academia because people in her house already rejected her. That's why she became obsessed in magical engineering in the first place.

Also I don't think she has social impairments based of autism. All of her siblings are just like that. His older brother is a mad dog, his 2nd brother is obsessed with luxury and tactless too. It is shown as comedic but her family is dysfunctional overall. They don't care about other people's opinions.

Personally, I don't want to assume anyone as autistic. I just don't wanna take it lightly but if autistic people are relating to her, then cool. I too relate to her and has a work attitude like her (yes I worked in tech and I don't eat food while working. Only coffee and vitamins because I needed to stay awake for days. I don't even stand up if there's a deadline lol) That's the reason I'm asking because I want to understand. No malice intent. Sorry if you're offended and take it that way.
