Like what do people want me to say at this point???? besides the SA in chap 3 and the ML is kinda a dick at the begining, WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO NOT LIKE ABOUT RAINBOW CITY????? THERES NO LOVE TRIANGLES, NO UNECASSARY MISCOMMUNICATION, NO JEALOUS EXES, NO AWOOOGA ALPHA MALE ML WITH NO PERSONALITY, NO DOORMAT MC, NO GRAPE/NON CON BEYOND CHAP 3, GREEN FLAG ML, SMART MC, ACTUAL INTERESTING AND WELL WRITTEN SIDE CHARACTERS, WELL WRITTEN VILLIAN, WELL WRITTEN AND PLANED OUT FORESHADOWING AS WELL AS PACING AND PLOT. Like what is there no to love????
And I dont wanna hear that "It's the same post apocalyptic story" from any of you fuckers who hasnt read the entire thing WORD FOR WORD. Sure, it seems basic at first, BUT DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PLOT TWISTS ARE IN THERE???? most importantly, rainbow city comes FIRST in all 527 bl (mostly manhwas/manhuas) that ive read in terms of dynamic. ITS SO FUCKING ADORABLE.
Some people say the mc looks a bit young, but he's literally supposed to look young and I just read the newest volume and it actually specifically states,
"Seokhwa and the old man said in unison that the rate of cell aging of his and Seokhwa's cells was significantly slower than that of normal people. To be honest, I couldn't really feel it. The old man said that when he dies and Lee Chae-yoon and Yang Sang-hoon grow old, you and Dr. Seok will not be able to keep up with the pace."
So there's my argument on that he's supposed to be younger than he looks. Some people find it weird that he looks young but babes, if you dont see him as a minor I dont see the issue.
other than that, what other arguments could people possibly have to not read rainbossi????Im asking because I genuinely dont know how people could hate other than these REPEATED SHALLOW ASS ARGUMENTS. Now that we got all the reasons why you shouldn't read it out of the way (Dumbass reasons that are all from people who obviously never read rainbow city) let's give a few more reasons why you should read it.
first let me explain the plot, SO BASICALLY
It’s post apocalyptic setting in which a company had decided to release a virus to sell vaccines Turing everybody into a zombie. The virus started to mutate this rendering the vaccine useless and the world was declared for a state of emergency. As nations fell they banded together in over to stop the spread of the vaccine, creating what is the main setting of the story “rainbow city” in Seoul Korea which was a city mainly controlled by the government split into seven sections to measure the zombie or “Adam” rate, with green being the safest and red being the most dangerous as well as military bases to to train and raise soldiers and hiring researchers in order to develop newer vaccines, but the problem was that the virus kept mutating and have already mutated 7 times rendering all the vaccines useless and the story goes from there. The only place unaffected by the virus was JeJu Island which is where the protagonist, Dr.SeokHwa, came from. A 34 year old poker faced genius researcher with a weak body that isn’t strong enough to even run, and had a strong obsession with rocks (reason will be revealed later) who once had been to rainbow city with his mentor but had returned back to JeJu Island to live a peaceful life was now needed to research the new variant. So the city sent soldier “Major Kwak SuHwan” to get him off the Island as well as the job of being the doctor’s personal bodyguard because Major Kwak Suhwan, being the strongest man in Rainbow city, barged into the red zone late at night without warning and caused a shit ton of chaos, massacring Adams just to fuel his alcohol addiction and was now given 2 options. 1. Get Dr.Seok off JeJu island and be his guard or 2. Go to the guardhouse which was basically a detention center for soldiers. Major Kwak, having the most fuckboy personality and was still reluctant to do it, manages to convince Dr.Seok to go back. However, he soon figures out the reason. Dr.Seok’s old mentor had been murdered in the base. With that, Dr.Seok starts to research the death of his mentor and starts to find things in Rainbow City that is not what it seems.
And if you don't like post apocalyptic well babes I got news for you, this story isn't mainly focused on survival but also on religion, character connection, lore, and the deep mystery behind the entirety of it all.
The mc, other than the fact that people dont like him because hes a twink THERE'S NOTHING NOT TO LOVE ABOUT HIM. HES SMART, HES CUTE, HE'S STRAIGHTFORWARD AND UNINTENTIONALLY FUNNY, HE CANS TAND UP FOR HIMSELF, HE KNOWS WHAT HE WANTS AND NEVER LETS HIS INSECURTIES GET THE BETTER OF HIM. I tell you, anyone who doesnt like Dr.Seok because of his personality is a BIG FAT STUPID B- AHEM I mean...is not trust worthy.
Major Kwak, the ML, i can literally link you to the essay I wrote about WHY he's not an asshole like shown at the beginning and actually has an interesting background and his own being instead of being a piece of cardboard. (But that would spoil a lot of the story)
the side characters, ACTUALLY ESSENTIAL TO THE PLOT instead of just cardboards that only exist for the ml and mc sake.
the villain, makes me wanna commit horrific deeds, but I hate to admit it, is also very well written.
Reading rainbow city is like watching one of those "never let them know your next move" videos EXCEPT all those next moves ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE when you consider the plot as a whole.
You're still not convinced???? What even are you looking for? Fluff? I got you, Smut? ....it'll come later Attractive mans? YES. WHAT ELSE DO PEOPLE LOOK FOR IN A BL???
Even if you dont like bl, romance is a sub plot in this story, and the slow burn BURRRRRRNNNNNS. Ill tell you and im not exaggerating when I say if you truly get into it, JUST MAJOR KWAK AND DR.SEOK WAVING AT EACH OTHER FOR A SINGLE PANEL, WILL FEEL LIKE THE MOST ADORABLE FLUFF YOUVE EVER SEEN. Okay maybe you'll suffer a bit because youll want them to be together 24/7 and have to wait for new chapters BUT ITS ALL WORTH IT. THE NOVEL IS EVEN MORE WORTH IS AS IT GIVES SO MUCH MORE INSIGHT INTO THEIR THOUGHTS.
ALSO, it's written by our lord and savior Chaepali. Chaepali is the only author where I dont even need to read her works to know ITS AMAZING.
her style is like this, she starts off with a stereotypical cliche plot....AND TRANSFORMS IT INTO SOMETHING GREAT. just look
The foul- start off as cliche poor mc and rich ml...THEN MYSTERY PLOT WITH THE MC'S DECEASED FATHER AND MYSTERIOUS DOCUMENTS???
rainbow city- start off as your average post apocalyptic...THEN (how do I even say this without spoiling everything) I cant even say it, because nothing in the later chapters of rainbow city will make sense if you dont understand the plot. EVERYTHING IS ESSENTIAL TO THE PLOT.
hyanghyeon text- start as average mind reading THEN BAM MYSTERY PLOT, DRUG USE MYSTERY AND TRUAMA AND MORE PLOT TWSITS.
The author is a genius ahead of her time and anything written by her is guaranteed to be a masterpiece. .
Ill have you know "Rainbow City" won the 2023 ridibooks new star award and the novel won the 2020 ridibooks ebook GRAND PRIZE.
