The mother sucked as well but she was depressed and powerless to see him even if she wanted to so I think people are giving her a pass. I like the Emperor's character development. I think the reason people are hating is because most of the issues were caused by him. He took the baby away gave it to the nanny and then evidently NEVER checked in on his wife and son to see if they were doing okay. Like the author is trying to make it seem like he always cared for them. If he did though would he know absolutely nothing about them. I mean he didn't even know she has never had a personal attendant for 15 years. He gave her all the baggage of being empress with none of the power so she has no way of protecting herself. Though I have MANY complaints I am liking his character development and look forward to the rest

100% ml was trash, but im a sucker for cute family stories even if he doesn't completely make up for his sucky actions. Compared to other shoujo manhwa, I support his development and like him.

Because while people went out of their way to lock and isolate the FL away, he is a king! He has all this power and doesn’t pay any attention to his own family! How purposely blind do you have to be to not know that your wife is mistreated and powerless.
He took her kid, and ignored them both. Now he’s like “ what’s going on?” When he should already know. There is no excuse to be this lazy. He has too much power with no excuse to not know what is happening and not think of the impact of his own actions or lack there of.

Basically the only way he can be so clueless is incompetence or super loe EQ. The author is making him both competent and have high EQ. It is conflicting info that is hard to reconcile. This might just be tainted by the fact that the archetype of ML who cares but feels like they must keep a distance would have either never married her or would have people secretly helping or keeping an eye on her. His feelings just end up feeling kind of cheap
Why are you hating the father? Like I know he was neglecting his son and his wife. But I'm seeing character development in this. It's like wife is trying his best to be a good mother now because of her previous life. I think it's good.
