That raises an interesting point. I wonder if the step mother is as carved up as Asagiri. Maybe that’s why she resents Satako who he tried to pretend to be kind to. What if the daughters are the only ones he showed his fake nice face to? I think he is more likely to take out his awful proclivities on women without status but men like that have no limits or boundaries and want to see any woman they “own” suffer.
I totally agree and that makes me feel sadder. I wish they all set themselves free from their patriarch. It might also be worth a thought that maybe the stepmother has all "bad" connections she has to prepare for killing the patriarch, although she certainly started with Satoko and with awful intentions.
Asagiri and Mitsueda had a good 15 years. They have been fearing and imagining each other die in that 15 years, so for it to take that long is sure peaceful, so I know how Asigiri san can stand without regrets. She knows Mitsueda would be happy that she's finally free, and she's with a kind old man. Once he dies, she'll still be a marchioness who has her self and some power.
I don't think Satoko can kill her dad, but I feel like her stepmother or sister will do so. I'm rooting for all the women and for Satoko and Shinpei to get good years together
